Join us for an experimental presentation of Lee Ranaldo & Leah Singer’s Contre Jour on Saturday, December 5, with the performers and audience on the Detroit Opera House stage. The longtime collaborators bring together suspended electric guitar, projected image, shadow, sound, and light. Part concert, part cinema, and part visual art, Ranaldo (co-founder of Sonic Youth) and visual artist and writer Leah Singer have collaborated since 1991, presenting their work internationally at venues including Centre Pompidou, Toronto’s Nuit Blanche, Berlin Atonal, and Dark Mofo.
The evening features a very special guest performance. Detroit’s Battle Elf opens.
Contre Jour is a rare opportunity to encounter two artists whose work has continually existed between experimental music, film, installation and performance—and to experience that work from the stage of one of Detroit’s most historic theaters.
